Beswicks Solicitors work hard and play hard!
Here at Beswicks we love nothing more than to meet with our clients and colleagues outside the office and we have embraced this even more with our most recent initiative to play five-a-side football matches against other local professionals.
Beswicks laid down the gauntlet to DJH Accounts, Business Advisors and Tax Specialists of Porthill Lodge, High Street, Wolstanton, Newcastle under Lyme, for what turned out to be a fast paced and highly skilled hour of five-a-side.
Beswicks compiled a multi-office team of six for the match comprising of Darren Long (Sports Law), Lee Yates (Criminal), Rob Walsh (Criminal), Matthew Simmonds (Commercial Litigation), Richard Simmonds (Corporate) and Richard Preston (Commercial litigation). DJH brought Paul Hulme, Ryan Gilligan, Chris Chelmer, Dave Garwood, Chris Robinson, Scott Mason and guest striker Andy Barrow.
Both teams started well but it was Beswicks who managed to get on the score sheet first with a net buster from stalwart Darren Long. Goals came thick and fast from each team with Andy Barrow proving troublesome for the Beswicks backline. However, never ones to let one slip through the net, Beswicks consolidated their lead with more goals from Darren Long, Richard Preston and Matthew Simmonds to take the halftime lead.
Following some much needed hydration and rest, Beswicks went on the attack early with stunning efforts from Rob Walsh and Lee Yates to add to Beswicks’ lead. Matt Simmonds’ penetrating runs down each wing served the main strikers well and the tactic of keeper swapping employed by Beswicks stopped (some of!) the furore of shots fired from Andy Barrow and Chris Robinson. Richard Simmonds let off some explosive shots but it was Darren Long who stole the show for Beswicks getting a staggering six of our fourteen goals.
DJH’s skill and stamina shone through but the night was awarded to Beswicks with the final score ending up as a goal-some 14-7.
After the match it was down to business as teams then retired to the pub for a well earned drink and chat and to relive some of those golden goals!
