Richard Simmonds appointed Vice Chairman of the Law Society’s Junior Lawyers Division for the Midlands
Richard Simmonds, a commercial property solicitor with Beswicks, has been appointed Vice Chairman of the Law Society’s Junior Lawyers Division for the Midlands.
The Junior Lawyers Division is a non-profit organisation and it is open to all LPC/CPE students, paralegals, legal executives, trainees and solicitors up to 5 year qualified.
The purpose of the organisation is to serve the less senior legal community and provide:
- support, advice and information
- exclusive community discounts
- access to online discussion forums
- networking opportunities
- representation on professional matters by campaigning and lobbying.
Richard joined the group in 2006 as social secretary, before becoming treasurer and recently being elected as vice chairman.
“Before I joined, I already knew Beswicks was a community conscious firm. I am a strong believer in giving back what you can to your local community and this is an attitude I share with the rest of the team here. It was therefore without hesitation that I joined the Law Society’s JLD to offer my knowledge and experience to help those either starting out or trying to develop, whilst providing a voice to the views and opinions of the younger members of the profession in an official capacity," explains Richard.
"Whilst we are profession-focussed, the majority of our events are designed to benefit different charities both nationally and locally. I thoroughly enjoy being able to use what I have learned to help others around me, particularly when we send off a cheque to charity after one of our events.”
