Insolvency Partner recovers from Great Manchester Run

Richard Preston, a partner at Beswicks Solicitors specialising in corporate recovery and dispute resolution, is recovering from his first 10 kilometre race in the Great Manchester Run in May.

Richard, who manages and plays in the Beswicks football team, came in after a respectable time of 54 minutes.

The Wingate Centre, home to the Wingate Special Children’s Trust, is an independent Charity devoted to enriching the lives of children and young people with all levels of disability or who are disadvantaged.

The Wingate Centre offers ‘special needs schools’, voluntary organisations and self help groups the opportunity of enjoying short term residence breaks through its specially equipped 22-bedroom accommodation.

Each year they welcome over 1000 disabled children and their carers from all over the country, a figure that continues to rise. For many of them it may be the first residential experience they have ever had and sadly for some of the more profoundly disabled, it may be the only residential experience they ever have.

Each year the Wingate Special Children’s Trust has to raise £275,000 to maintain the Charity’s activities and subsidise the cost of each child’s visit. Approximately half of this is generated through training fees and hire charges. This means that through fundraising activities and the generous assistance of trusts, companies and other organisations they need to raise a further £137,500 per year.

"We are absolutely delighted with Richard's donation. As we are an independent Charity, we receive no government funding and therefore have to rely on generous donations such at this to maintain and improve the facilities that we have to offer here at the Wingate Centre. All of our funds go into ensuring that we can continue to enrich the lives of very special children," commented Hannah Ward-Salt of the Wingate Special Children’s Trust.
