Local Entrepreneur’s Egyptian Connection Saves Mugs Brand

The corporate & commercial team at Beswicks Solicitors have advised local entrepreneur, John Lovatt, in his acquisition of the Tams brands of Tams, Royal Grafton and Grafton Fine Bone China out of receivership.

John had been retired since 2000, after 37 years in the ceramic industry, and whilst in retirement has been dealing with companies in Egypt regarding tableware plants. 

John, who is funding the venture along with Egyptian partners, says investing in Tams brands is a calculated gamble.  His strategy is to build on Tams's worldwide presence in the earthenware market and the established and experienced decoration skills in North Staffordshire and combine this with lower-cost manufacturing of blank mugs in Egypt.
