Is your 'address for service' up to date at the Land Registry ?

The Land Registry maintains details of land ownership in England and Wales.  This includes an ‘address for service’ for all owners of land as part of each property’s title. The address for service does not have to be the address of the property itself and it is important to keep this piece of information up to date.

It is surprisingly common for the address for service to out of date, for example, if you own residential or commercial investment properties or holiday apartments, its likely that the address for service will be either the property address itself or an old address for you if you have moved after you bought the property.

If the Land Registry needs to correspond with you for any reason, such as if a third party should try to claim rights over the land, they will only write to the address for service.  Would you want your tenants receiving correspondence from the Land Registry meant for you?

The Beswicks property law team can review your property portfolio and, if necessary,  update your address for service at the Land Registry, giving you piece of mind that if the Land Registry need to contact you, you will be sure to receive the information.
