How do you activate lasting powers of attorney? Lasting Power of Attorney
In order to be activated, your lasting powers of attorney must first be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian.
If your LPA was registered after 17 July 2020, you will have received an activation key with the letter confirming registration of your Lasting Powers of Attorney. This can be done online providing you have both your LPA reference numbers and activation keys.
If your LPA was registered between 1 January 2016 and 16 July 2020, you can visit gov.uk to request an activation key, provided you have your LPA reference number.
For LPAs registered prior to 1 January 2016, you will instead need to produce your paper LPA to people and organisations.
