How is child maintenance decided? Family Law
The parent who does not have day-to-day care of a child (the non-resident parent) must usually pay child maintenance. The Child Maintenance Service will make a calculation based on the non-resident’s parents weekly income, taking into account any other children that they support and pension contributions that they make. In the event that the non-resident parent earns over £3,000 gross per week the family court can become involved if necessary. This is something that our child arrangements solicitors can assist with further.
