Meet Kate Hogg, a member of our commercial property team. As well as being a talented solicitor, Kate has a love of New York, Edinburgh and interior design.
What’s the best bit about your job?
Having different challenges to face every day – no day in the office is ever the same.
Do you have a secret talent?
I am a qualified pharmacy healthcare advisor. While studying for my law degree and legal practice course I worked in a pharmacy. I really enjoyed my time there but it helped me to decide that law definitely was the right career path for me!
If you weren’t a solicitor, what would your ideal job be?
An interior designer.
What motto would you say you live and work by?
For me it is all about honesty and transparency and I believe in treating others as you would like to be treated yourself.
If you could turn the clock back, what advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
To travel more – when you’re young you have all the freedom in the world to go wherever you want!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Probably New York – I absolutely love the city and the variety that is brings. That said, I would also like to experience living in Edinburgh – my mum’s side of the family are from Scotland and it is a fantastic city that I have always fancied living in.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time with my daughter and watching her grow up.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
When faced with big task, a former boss once said to me ‘How do you eat an elephant? A bite at a time’. This mantra has stuck with me and I always use this approach when faced with complex matters.
