Landowners and homeowners are coming to terms with the implications of the HS2 rail routes following a government announcement.
The Department for Transport has published up-to-date plans and proposals for the routes from Birmingham to Crewe, Phase 2(a), and Crewe to Manchester, and Birmingham to Leeds, Phase 2(b).
Addressing Parliament, Chris Grayling MP highlighted a number of communities that will be affected by the plans, as well as announcing a new consultation on the options to develop a Crewe Hub, which could support an HS2 service to Stoke-on-Trent.
Iain Johnston, Beswicks Legal planning and environmental partner, said: “Confirmation of the high speed rail routes will provide more certainty and information for landowners and businesses who are affected. Many landowners will be eligible for a number of compensation schemes available under the proposals.
“At Beswicks Legal we have a dedicated HS2 advisory service, which has been running for over five years, successfully advising and dealing with compensation claims for landowners. Our priority is to make sure people are properly and suitably compensated should their land or property need to be acquired by HS2.”
