Thirty members of the Beswicks Legal team pulled on their walking boots and embarked on a 20-mile hike in memory of colleague and former partner Mike Stephenson.
Raising more than £4,500 for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, they took on the six dales challenge, walking up hill and down dale to complete a loop from Hartington to Dovedale, taking in some of the highest hills in the area including Thorpe Cloud and Bunster Hill.
Earlier this year the Beswicks team lost much-loved colleague Mike Stephenson to cancer. He received outstanding care from Stoke-on-Trent’s Dougie Mac Hospice, prompting the Festival Park-based law firm to embark on a series of fund-raising events.
Senior Partner Gary Mellor said: “It was a challenging but fantastic day. Mike was a brilliant character. He’d definitely have seen the funny side of us traipsing through the countryside getting blisters!”
Nick Phillips, Managing Partner, added: “Sincere thanks to everyone who gave so generously, supporting us in our challenge and raising an incredible amount for the Dougie Mac. The hospice touches so many lives, supporting people facing life-limiting illness across North Staffordshire and the care that Mike received was second to none.”
In addition to the six dales challenge, the Beswicks team participated in the Dougie Mac bike ride in May and 5k run in April. Their next fund-raiser is a charity ball to be held on Friday 7 July.
