Sarah Mellor_ Wills & Estate Solicitor

What I do_

I specialise in the preparation of wills, including mirror wills, life interest wills and nil rate band discretionary trust wills. I advise on the impact of inheritance tax and how it can be reduced or even avoided with careful planning through the use of a will.

With experience in dealing with estate administration, for both taxable and non-taxable estates, I advise executors and beneficiaries on a wide range of practical administration and taxation issues. I also have experience in dealing with estates including Spanish property.

I prepare and look after people’s affairs under enduring powers of attorney and also undertake Court of Protection work, having been appointed by the Court as a Receiver to manage the financial affairs of those who are unable to do so themselves.

Typical areas I deal with are:

  • Preparation of wills
  • Inheritance tax
  • Administration of estates
  • Grants of probate or administration
  • Preparation of IHT accounts
  • Deeds of variation
  • Lasting powers of attorney
  • Court of Protection orders
  • Living wills

  • Member of the Probate Section of the Law Society
  • Member of Solicitors for the Elderly
  • I speak at seminars on issues relating to wills and inheritance planning
  • I support a number of charities including Douglas Macmillan Hospice, Cancer Research and Will Aid in events such as Free Will Week
