The Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) is a recognised quality standard awarded by The Law Society to conveyancing firms which demonstrate high levels of expertise and client service.
Firms regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) who practice residential conveyancing are eligible to apply for CQS accreditation.
The Conveyancing Quality Scheme sets out the expected standards of competence, risk management and client service levels that conveyancing firms are expected to deliver.
The CQS assessment process includes mandatory training, adoption of a set of core principles or standards, examination of practice methods and DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks for all qualified conveyancers.
What does Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation mean for clients?
CQS accreditation is a quality mark providing clients with confidence that the solicitor they have chosen will:
- Have high levels of expertise – conveyancing is more complicated than most people think, so it’s good to know your property transaction is in safe hands and you are getting the best possible advice.
- Prioritise good client care – for example, communicating likely timescales and providing regular updates on progress with your matter.
- Adhere to good practice management standards – including having clear policies and procedures covering things like risk management, information management and financial management. This provides peace of mind that you are being advised by a reputable and well-run conveyancing firm.
